Milano Taxi

Milan is often called one of the world capitals of fashion. It is not only the center of the fashion world but also a place where museums, churches, and theaters can provide insight into an ancient generation. Milan is also the starting point for exploring the tourist cities of northern Italy, including the Alps.

Taxis in the city of Milan are quite cheap compared to some other European cities, however, that does not diminish their reliability and comfort. If you stay in the city center, you will be able to walk to most of the city’s attractions. Nevertheless, here is some information about taxis if you need to use them.

How to Find a Taxi in Milano

In most cities in Europe, you can call a taxi from the street. In Milan, one can rarely get a taxi this way. You will need to walk to the nearest taxi stand or, otherwise, call to book it in advance. When you are in a new city and you don’t speak the local language, this can be quite a challenge.

You can find a taxi at taxi ranks, which are located in Piazza Duomo, Piazza Repubblica, Piazza Duca D’Aosta, near Garibaldi railway station, Piazza Castello, Piazza Cordusio, Piazza Fontana and Largo Augusto.

Milano Taxi rates

Taxis in Milan are quite expensive, although not as in some other cities across Europe. These are the official tariffs:

Minimum fare on weekdays: 6 am – 9 pm: € 3.30

Minimum fare on public holidays: 6 am – 9 pm: € 5.40

The minimum fare at night: € 6.50

Tariff per kilometer: € 1.09

Tariff per hour waiting: € 28.3

When the taximeter reaches € 13.25, the price per kilometer becomes more expensive and costs € 1.50 instead of € 1.09. The price per hour of waiting time is also higher, costing € 39.27.

If the car is driving faster than 50 km/h for over 60 seconds, the price per kilometer becomes € 1.70, so be careful if you decide to take a taxi to Linate or Bergamo Airport. If you are flying from Malpensa Airport you shouldn’t have any problem because there is a fixed rate from the city center. If you book a taxi by phone, note that you will be charged for the call as well. That means the total price of your ride can cost you double of what it would normally cost you.
